The one thing that a bride also needs to focus on while planning her wedding is the wedding rehearsal. The rehearsal is practice from beginning to end, allowing all that are involved to feel confident about what is happening the next day.
To make it a little easier on yourself be sure that only those participating attend – everyone else should head onto the rehearsal dinner – EVERYONE! The people that should attend would be the officiant, wedding party (spouse and children…not in attendance), any readers, soloists and parents.
The easiest way to get things done is have everyone stand at the alter where you need them – leave space for the bride and groom, place the officiant, bridal party, readers, soloists and have the parents sit in their seats.

I totally agree. It is much easier when only the members of the wedding party attend the rehearsal. When we have a rehearsal we have already detailed with the couple before the rehearsal most of the specifics of the procession, ceremony and recession: how the bridal party walks in, where they are going to stand, who is standing next to whom, where are the parents sitting, where are the divorced parents sitting, where are the step parents sitting, where are readers sitting/standing, etc. All this and more is all detailed and written out. We strongly suggest to the couple to tell their bridal party that this is how they have planned their processional. Early in my career as an officiant I would allow all this planning to occur at the time of the rehearsal and everyone had an opinion and a better idea. What should take have taken about twenty minutes took an hour or better. The planning ahead eliminates so much of discussion, confusion and personal opinions. Besides, everyone wants to get to the rehearsal dinner. I remind the couple, to communicate to the bridal party, the importance of starting the rehearsal on time. Many do not take the rehearsal seriously; they arrive late with others waiting and it is a challenge to get everyone focused.
Great tips. I definitely agree that only those participating should be in attendance ; it’s just easier that way.
