In my last blog, I reflected upon past Academy Awards and talked about gowns that I thought provided great inspiration for wedding gowns. And, I promised that I would share my thoughts this week following the 2013 Academy Awards. Let’s not waste any more time talking, let’s look at the dresses!
In my opinion, Charlize Theron, in Christian Dior Haute Couture stole the show. And I know that I am not alone in this opinion. I see a very stylish bride, with old Hollywood inspirations woven throughout her wedding. But the gown takes my wedding Oscar!
I loved Jennifer Lawrence, also in Dior Haute Couture. Now, for a bride, I believe the gown will need some refinements. Clearly, after watching the infamous Oscar fall, the dress is heavy and very difficult in which to move. For a wedding, it will need a lighter fabric, and may need to be just a touch shorter in the front. In case you missed it, the back of this gown is divine!
Amy Adams is glowing in this Oscar de la Renta gown. And look, she is posing with her fiancée Darren Le Gallo. I doubt they mentioned this for my blog, but it is a great shot! I could see this gown as a wedding dress in anything ranging from pure white to a deep blush, almost a café au lait shade!
These next few gowns are also stunning inspirations. But for most bride’s; they will require a color modification. I am thinking a champagne tone will be fabulous for Jessica Chastain’s look. Her Armani Prive gown in nude is seriously lovely. I also think this would be amazing for a bridesmaid’s look too!
And for Amanda Seyfried’s, Alexander McQueen gown, I would love to see this in ivory with the metallic embellishments! It too would be a lovely gown for a bridesmaid!

While we are talking about bridesmaids – I am loving this! Seriously, if bridesmaids can wear black, why not a sizzling Armani Prive inspired gown! Naomi Watts rocked it!
