Keep in mind that wedding photographers get really busy in the Spring time as the wedding season starts, and not only that, but all the engaged couples want their photo-sessions to happen in May, when everything is fresh, flowers are in blossom, and Love is in the air. :) So .. finding the time when your photographer is actually available might be somewhat of a challenge.

If you are finding that he or she has no time for you till ..say..middle of June, don’t give up! – It’s true that spring months for Wedding Photographers are a busy time, much like March    and April for the accountants preparing your taxes, BUT – it’s only the weekends that get so incredibly busy. Your photographer will probably still be OK with shooting on a weekday. If you can’t take a day off at work for a photo-session, try to finish work tiny bit earlier one day, and do an afternoon shoot – starting at 5 or 6pm. ..Days are getting longer now, and in early May you should have daylight till as late as 8pm. Use the sunset calendar to determine the sunset time on the day of your photo-session and plan accordingly.

If you absolutely can’t leave work earlier, try something more nontraditional – a sunrise photo-shoot before work. Your city, town or a park where you want to take photos are guaranteed to look empty and picturesque, and .. there’s a good chance that it will be a fun, romantic, and unforgettable experience.  Also, don’t forget – photography is all about LIGHT! Hence, light is much MUCH better at 6-7am, or at 6-7pm than at 11am or noon, or 1pm-3pm.  You don’t want to have your photos taken around noon, when the sun is high, and shadow are harsh. Photos taken at this time of the day look far less exciting, than when the sun is low.

Sometimes, your photographer will even be forced to use flash outside, to make sure that your part of your face is not too dark because of, say – the tree’s shadow falling on you. While at the wedding there are too many important planning aspects to factor in and the photographer is left with the time-slot that disregards any light concerns, Engagement photos are ALL about Photography, while Photography is about light. Therefore.. Engagement is ..kind of.. all about Light! Rather, it’s about you and your significant other, your Love, AND light!

The bottom line, don’t set up a time for 11am engagement photo shoot because it’s most convenient for one’s schedule – it could be just a waste of money, when compared what amazing photos could be made a few hours later on the same day.
Light Matters!
Since it’s Spring time, i think I’ll do my next post on more engagement photo tips, so – stay tuned, and enjoy the wonderful weather!!! :):):)
