As you probably know by now, planning a wedding takes a lot of time and effort into making it perfect for you and everybody who shares it with you. Many couples have their own views about which is more important for them, but I can assure you choosing the photographer is high up on that list. You want a professional photographer who knows what they are doing and how they do this, most importantly you want to know their style of capturing these precious moments.

 

The traditional style:

The traditional style takes a more formal approach and requires guests to situate around an area for certain periods of time, during specific times of the day. This was the most popular approach over a decade ago, but as new styles emerged the traditional style has lost its popularity. For a more formal approach, this is the choice for you.

• The end product may feel or look forced and not appear natural.
• Working to a specific deadline, guests may not like constantly being taken away for more and more pictures at different times.

The contemporary approach:

This approach is far more relaxed than the traditional style, but does require small amounts of interference from the photographer. The photographer is more than likely looking for the moments that are important to the couple, such as the I do’s and the first dance. • Less of a formal approach, most of the time you will forget you have a photographer.
• The photographer is likely going to spot the important moments and make them look that much more special.

Disadvantages…

• You are not in control as much as you could be with the traditional approach.
• Some photos you may not like, therefore feel like they were a waste.

Unlike the traditional wedding approach, this has grown in popularity over the last decade. Characterised by a hands-off approach by the photographer who will record the events of your big day as they happen in the manner of documentary television crew. You may forget the photographer is there, making you forget, which in turn helps make the images look as natural as possible.

Advantages…

• The least intrusive style, lets you and your guest relax throughout the day.
• All of the finished images will look natural and will show the true happiness of the day
• You may see pictures that you were not expecting to see, maybe a grumpy relative who’s smiling for once? Adding to the WOW factor.

Disadvantages…

• Again, unlike traditional you are not in charge therefore your input won’t really be needed.
• The finished product may not be hat you expected, depending on the photographers experience they may not be high quality shots.
