Today we’re representing one of the leading Israeli bridal dress designers – Berta.
Her Berta Bridal collection is gorgeous so I talked to the representative for international marketing
Nir Moschovich and managed to arrange an interview with this famous designer which we’re exclusively bringing you today on Wed Me Pretty.
When did you know you wanted to be a wedding dress designer?
I guess I was born with the love for design. Ever since I was a little girl I was sketching and drawing gowns all day long. It’s something within me.
What’s it like being in the industry?
It’s a great privilege to get to do the thing you love most and make a living out of it.
How long does it take to make the dress?
It varies between one dress to the other. The process of designing a gown is pure art. You can all of a sudden get an inspiration and design a gown in a day, or it can take up to a few weeks and even more.
Where do you get your materials from?
I only work with the finest materials. I get them from all over the world, and each and every material I have goes through a handmade process in my studio in which I modify it and make it suited for my needs.
What is your favorite dress?
It’s like asking a mother which child is her favorite one ;)
Who is your fashion idol?
There are many, but perhaps Grace Kelly stands out the most.
What is elegance according to you?
Elegance is not trying too much. Not showing too much skin, and not covering too much with layers of fabric. Not too much jewelry, but also not to plain. Elegance is accuracy. Accuracy in the way that everything falls into place.
What was the main inspiration for your last collection?

I recently read a nice review about my collection from a fashion editor in NYC, he wrote: “Berta’s collection is of old world Hollywood glamor, when style was style, class was class and sophistication tied it all together.”
Who do you think are the ideal brides for your dresses?
The ideal Berta bride is the sophisticated bride, who care about her looks, and confident enough to celebrate her beauty.
What dress sizes do you offer to brides? (do you have any plus size models)
The standard sizes for my collection are 36-42
What are your plans for the future?
My personal plans are to keep creating and making art in the form of high fashion. My business managers’ plans are to make sure my designs become available in more and more locations around the world.
What is your advice to other aspiring designers, that would also love to have a successful career in this business?
