Fake Wedding Cakes! Seriously? Oh Yeah!

Inevitably, your wedding reception will be one of your biggest expenses.
Couples are continuously searching for ways to cut cost,
without diminishing the quality of their special day.
In my experience, the wedding cake is not only top priority,
but is also on the list of costly wedding essentials.
There are definite ways to cut down on the cost of your cake,
but nothing compared to what this post will reveal. Wedding cakes are beautiful works of art.
They are gazed upon by guests and offer an added touch of glamor. What couple doesn't want that?
Well it's attainable for a fraction of the cost. You can literally "have your cake and eat it too".

While researching ways for couples to remain in their wedding budget, I stumbled upon a new trend….Ready? “Fake Wedding Cakes”…(Yes, you’ve read it right). A fake wedding cake, typically, consist of round (or square) Styrofoam boards covered in fondant or Perma-icing. A fake wedding cake can be ordered either entirely or partially inedible. Partially inedible cakes have a couple of edible tiers, while entirely inedible cakes have a small designated section for the bride and groom. As the time to cut the cake approaches, the bride and groom prepare to cut the edible portion and proceed to feed one another a piece (if that is in their list of moments to share). Next, the cake is wheeled in back where a plain sheet cake (previously purchased by the couple)  is cut and served to guests. The remaining “real cake”, from the partial fake cake, is reserved for the bride and grooms first anniversary. This can be done with as little at $300, while giving you the cake you’ve always dreamed of! An highlighted benefit is that the bride and groom still have the luxury of choosing the design of the cake, number of edible tiers, and color options. Some couples choose to add real flowers to dramatize the effect.

While cost and budget may be of little concern for some couples, other couples are eager to find inexpensive, alternatives. Cutting corners is nothing to be ashamed of, and if done correctly, will not reveal a lesser quality. Essentially, as a couple, decide what you’re most comfortable with. Always keep elegance and etiquette at the forefront of your planning and it’ll be great! Also, keep the unpredictability of guest in mind. Any, however unlikely, cake incidents may cause exposure of your delectable delight.

There are many cake alternatives too, like cupcakes and donuts on 3 tier stands

While I completely understand the reasoning behind a fake cake, it would feel deceptive to me. So I don’t think I’d go that route. I’d probably have a small cake to cut, plus a dessert station instead.
