{Guest Post} Making your wedding venue represent your personality as a couple

Your wedding is a celebration of your love as a couple, and that means every aspect of it should be about your personalities, styles and tastes coming together.

Picking the perfect venue to represent that is one thing, and decorating it is another; it’s difficult to agree with every involved party, because although you might dream of a Cinderella wedding in a beautiful country home, your partner might be dreaming of a more modern affair in a boutique city hotel.

The stress of a wedding and the fact that you have to make some quick decisions can actually be a good test of your patience and ability to work together as a couple.

The first step is to find a lot of venues and make sure you visit them all together. Visit them with an open mind, if one partner does obviously prefer a certain type of venue, look for a place that combines the best of both worlds; for example, if your fiancé likes outdoors spaces, but you like warm, cozy rooms, then perhaps go for a country venue with a veranda, or choose a venue that will allow you to spend part of the ceremony outside. With a little hard work you’ll be able to find the right place.

Come together later and work out what similarities there are between your boards; maybe you both love fairy lights, and a gold and silver theme. Some couples are very similar, and they might love to make their wedding all about something they are passionate about; geek couples might love a video-game themed cake, and they might like to theme their room with pixel art, tech lighting and a color theme from their favorite comic book.
