Author Veronica Foster shares her planning experience with you:
Sheena & Dales wedding was a very small intimate family affair. It was also a fantastic destination wedding from the Hills of Virginia to a regal mansion in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
Our bride wanted an elegant very formal southern wedding for their family and out of town guests list of only 45 guests. One thing is she was not afraid of color! She wanted to find a way to use all of the traditional fall colors along with her very favorite color – purple so were able to use the Dark Purple, Oranges, Burgundy a little hints of a darker yellow and really have the couples tastes and personalities infused in the design of the wedding.
A couple of very fun aspects were the Groom’s cake – a lover of video games he had a great Call of Duty cake, complete with zombie. Our bride loved the formal look and the venue, Graylyn Estate in Winston Salem really gave it all that old world formal feel. Since the guest list was small were able to make everything happen for her and we were able to make sure the event stayed intimate formal and then fun!
For the ceremony we actually had to move it inside because of rain, but the décor worked well with the old hardwood floors a beautiful grand piano and we were even able to add more fall décor!
Cocktail hour was held outside on the patio complete with tall burgundy crinkle taffeta linen on the cocktail tables, open bar and passed hor’ dourves. Once the guests were ushered into the reception area the double layered linens really surprised them and left them in awe.
The tables were dressed in a Fire pintuck color with a burgundy crushed romance under and then swagged. At each place setting the guests received a candied apple – made by the bride and groom and a silver key – that later they used to open their attending gifts.
The wedding guests and the bride & groom danced the night away!
